Kayakers on the Megin River
From its source on Splendor Mountain in Strathcona Provincial Park, the remote Megin River meanders through isolated valleys before flowing into Shelter Inlet, just north of Flores Island on the Pacific Coast of Vancouver Island.

The pristine wilderness area around Megin Lake and Megin River is renowned for its rugged beauty and outdoor potential, but the river is also good for fishing, with resident cutthroat caught year round and a winter steelhead run from March to April.

Access to the Megin River is by boat or kayak from Clayoquot Sound, with floatplane fly-ins available to Megin Lake.

Nearest Town: Tofino, Clayoquot Sound

Nearest Lake: Megin Lake

Nearest Park: Sulphur Passage Provincial Park

Additional Info: Camping facilities are available on the north shore of Megin Lake.
